Man Accused Of Pointing Firearm In Wilton Road-Rage Incident Caught In Ridgefield, Police Say

A driver allegedly threatened someone with a gun in a road-rage incident in Wilton then got nabbed by cops in Ridgefield, according to Wilton Police.

On Friday, Aug. 16 at about 7:15 a.m., police responded to the area of Danbury Road and Mountain Road in Wilton on a report of the incident, police said.

While officers were on their way to the call, dispatchers informed the officers that the alleged suspect was driving a 1996 Acura 3.5 RL and was last seen in the area of Wilridge Road, according to Wilton Police.

While officers were responding to the area, dispatchers contacted the Ridgefield Police Department and gave the alleged suspect vehicle description, Wilton Police said.

Ridgefield Police was able to stop the car in Ridgefield and detain the driver, Kirk Andersen, 36, of Bridgeport, until Wilton officers arrived, according to Wilton Police.

After a short investigation, on the scene, it was reportedly determined that a road-rage incident occurred in the area of Danbury Road and School Street over the accusations that Anderson struck the victim's vehicle while merging at Danbury Road and Olmstead Hill Road, Wilton Police said.

Andersen allegedly threatened to shoot the victim and was reaching behind his back while making the threat, according to Wilton Police.

Andersen reportedly denied all accusations and stated that he was instead reaching for his cell phone because he was scared he was going to get beat up, said Wilton Police.

Andersen was arrested and charged with first-degree threatening and is currently being held at the Wilton Police Department on a $5,000 bond, according to police.
